Collaboration between parents and toddlers is important. Collaborating together has a positive effect on the social and intellectual development of the toddler. The parents are the most important adults in the lives of their toddlers, they are irreplaceable people. To gain the collaboration between the two of them, we need the parents to be involved. The parents needs to pay attention on equivalence and responsibility for the activity and each other.

During the collaboration there are a lot of interactions going on. There is some emotional support to fulfill the feeling of security. This is necessary because the toddler needs to feel safe. The parents needs to have respect for the autonomy of their toddler. The toddler needs to have the chance to go his own way and to explore. The parents needs to give the toddler a chance to develop independence. Beside that the parents needs to have an eye on giving structure and limits because the toddler needs this to have an idea of what is or isn't possible during the activity. The toddler needs information and an explanation to get a better idea of how the world is working and turning, how to do the activity on the right way and how they can empathize themselves in others.
